Cost Certainty for Higher Education: Red Flags Rule
Need assistance complying with the FTC's Red Flags Rule? Saul Ewing's Higher Education Practice Group can help.
On October 30th, the Federal Trade Commission again delayed the date by which colleges and universities must have a Red Flags program in place in order to address the risks of identity theft on campus. The deadline is now June 1, 2010. This extra time allows your school to tailor an appropriate program rather than adopt one of the cumbersome "off the shelf" identity theft programs created with large financial institutions in mind.
Saul Ewing's Higher Education Practice Group has experience preparing such programs in the postsecondary education arena. As a result, we are well-positioned to offer higher education clients a fixed-fee arrangement for preparing their Red Flags programs.
For fixed price, you will receive a policy that is a better fit for a higher education institution than boilerplate "bank" language. For a slightly higher fixed-fee, we offer more advanced services, which include drafting a policy tailored in more detail to your institution, with a discussion of specific "covered accounts" and related risks.
