For over 20 years, Barry has concentrated his practice in commercial, real estate, finance, and estates and trusts law. As a partner and chair of Saul Ewing's Business and Finance Practice, Barry has handled virtually every type of legal challenge facing businesses in our fast-changing, global economy. Barry's role has been as an advisor and counselor to his clients on general corporate matters, as well as acting as lead counsel for many types of complex commercial transactions. In addition, Barry regularly renders advice about the appropriate choice of business entity and how new businesses should be capitalized.

He has extensive experience as lead counsel in representing clients in a variety of different business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, reorganizations, divestitures, and liquidations. Barry also regularly works in connection with financing, including acquisition, asset based, real estate, equipment, refinancings, and loan workouts.

Barry represents clients involved in the design, manufacture, purchase, and use of computer software and hardware, as well as wireless communications. He also counsels clients with respect to intellectual property matters. Such services include the preparation and negotiation of franchising and licensing agreements.

Barry's experience as counsel includes representation of public companies and privately owned and managed companies, financial institutions, charitable and nonprofit organizations, and start-up companies.

In addition, Barry provides legal services related to medical and dental practice transitions throughout the United States. Barry's clients include doctors, dentists, and the business entities in which they practice. Barry handles all aspects of the medical and dental practice structure through and including the structuring, negotiation, documentation, and implementation of associateship or employee arrangements, partnership arrangements, acquisitions, and sales. Barry regularly provides dispute resolution and/or mediation services to multiple owner medical and dental practices throughout the United States, assisting these individuals in restructuring their business and financial relationships.

Through these and numerous community, civic and charitable organizations in which Barry is involved, he has established a national network of other professionals within the financial, accounting, insurance and investment industries, which are available to him in connection with his business practice.

Prior to joining Saul Ewing he spent 13 years as a partner in a Baltimore law firm. Barry also served as in-house counsel for Siena Corporation, practicing in all aspects of real estate development, leasing, property management, and general corporate law.

Barry is a frequent writer and speaker for numerous professional and community organizations, including the American Bar Association and the Maryland Institute for Continuing Professional Education of Lawyers (MICPEL).
