Daniel Chemers is a member of Saul Ewing’s Litigation Department, practicing in its Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland offices. Since graduating from Harvard Law School in 1969, he has concentrated his practice on complex civil litigation, including cases involving commercial contracts, trade regulation, antitrust and product distribution. He tries cases to both judges and juries, and represents parties in both governmental and private actions.

Mr. Chemers has litigated cases involving a wide range of industries, including flooring, publishing, television, food production and processing, alcoholic beverages and medical devices. He recently led the Saul Ewing team that successfully defended a major metropolitan newspaper and its community newspaper subsidiary against charges of monopolization and attempted monopolization of the Washington, D.C. suburban market.

Mr. Chemers also provides clients with counseling to assist them in complying with trade regulation, antitrust and consumer protection laws. This counseling covers a broad range of subjects, including pricing policies, distribution and franchise practices, distributor and dealer termination, joint ventures, mergers, advertising and warranties. He counsels manufacturers and franchisors on issues arising under state franchise and distribution statutes, and under other pertinent trade regulation laws. He writes and speaks on product distribution and antitrust.
