Eileen Day O'Brien has substantial experience counseling clients on the many facets of estate planning and estate and trust administration. She assists them in formulating a plan that will carry out their estate planning goals on many levels. In this regard, Eileen helps clients identify their personal wishes with respect to the disposition of their assets at death, taking into account such things as the effective transition of business interests, the role of charitable giving, and the creation of trusts to meet the needs of individual beneficiaries. She assists them in forming a plan that will both carry out their personal wishes and do so in a way that minimizes taxes payable at death. Particular attention is given to strategies intended to accomplish the transfer of wealth through multiple generations. In many cases, the implementation of the plan begins immediately through carefully planned gifts and the creation of trusts.
Eileen continues implementing her clients’ estate planning through the administration of their estates following death, including the handling of administrative proceedings at the state level and the handling of matters pertaining to death taxes at both the federal and state levels. Implementation of the estate plan often continues even beyond the closing of an estate, and Eileen plays an active role with the ongoing administration of trusts created for surviving family members.
Eileen is a frequent lecturer to business, civic, charitable and social groups.
