Francie Cohen Spahn concentrates her practice on sustainable design, development and construction of school and university campuses, healthcare facilities, and multifamily and commercial properties.

One of the first 10 Maryland attorneys to become a LEED Accredited Professional, Francie also has obtained the designation of LEED Building Design + Construction from the U.S. Green Building Council. With these accreditations and her practical experience, Francie brings to clients a thorough understanding of green building and the knowledge and experience to facilitate the LEED certification process.

Since 2002, she has counseled owners, construction consultants, engineers, architects and others involved in the development, construction, financing and leasing of "green" buildings. Her experience includes drafting and negotiating "green" construction contracts, architect's agreements, leases and work letters, building regulations, and homeowner associations' declarations and bylaws. Francie is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council's Speaker Registry and is frequently asked to speak and write about sustainable design criteria and the laws mandating "green" building.
