Indira Sharma concentrates her practice on commercial litigation in state and federal courts with an emphasis on real estate litigation and contract disputes. She also represents clients in a broad range of other litigation matters including class actions, commercial lease litigation, estate litigation and litigation involving non-compete agreements.
Past and current representations include:
- Defending one the Mid-Atlantic region's largest real estate brokerage companies in over 25 real-estate related lawsuits and administrative proceedings involving allegations of professional malpractice, fraud, negligence and/or breach of contract against the company and its real estate brokers/agents
- Representing a multinational real estate services firm in connection with filing lawsuits for breach of management agreements
- Representing commercial landlords and tenants in lawsuits involving proper lease termination and lease interpretation
- Representing an estate valued in excess of $3 million and the personal representatives of the estate in a caveat proceeding
- Defending a national finance company in multiple consumer class actions each seeking multimillion dollar awards
- Representing employers in connection with filing suit for breach of non-compete agreements
- Representing corporate entities in connection with petitioning the court for dissolution
Within Saul Ewing, Indira is the vice chair of the Diversity Committee and a driving force behind the firm's diversity initiatives. She has organized several internal diversity retreats for the firm and coordinated the firm's sponsorship of and participation in numerous diversity conferences, events and programs throughout its geographic footprint. She also served on the steering committee that formed the firm's Women’s Development Initiative and, as a founding member, organized the first networking event for the firm’s female attorneys and female clients.
While in law school, Indira interned at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) where she assisted the administrative law judges of the EEOC with preparing for hearings and drafting opinions for employment discrimination cases. She is also the author of "Comment: The Evolving, Yet Still Inadequate, Protections Afforded Battered Immigrant Women," published in Volume 5 of the University of Maryland Law Journal of Race, Religion, Gender and Class.
In addition to her Maryland state and D.C. bar admissions, Indira is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland.
