As a member of the Bankruptcy and Restructuring Practice in its Baltimore office, Joyce Kuhns’ practice encompasses bankruptcy, loan workouts, and bankruptcy and commercial litigation, at the trial and appellate levels. For more than 20 years, she has represented debtors and secured and unsecured creditors in negotiation and preparation of out-of-court restructurings and in reorganization cases. Joyce provides strategic advice to both buyers and sellers of assets of financially distressed entities. She has represented landlord, developer and retail (as buyer) interests in the national and regional bankruptcy cases of prominent retailers as well as retail debtor chains and has developed an extensive national network of retail bankruptcy professionals.

Joyce has lectured before national and international trade groups on bankruptcy and commercial law issues and has published in regional and national publications on bankruptcy issues. She has served as a past editor for the Advisory Committee on the Local Rules of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland. Joyce is an active member of the Bankruptcy Task Force of the International Council of Shopping Centers and has testified before Congress on bankruptcy real estate issues.
