Sally Michael has nearly 20 years of experience representing local, regional and national developers and financial institutions on complex portfolio transactions and joint venture deals with sophisticated tax structures. She counsels clients on:

  • Acquisitions
  • Financings
  • Complex corporate matters
  • Recapitalizing and restructuring commercial real estate
  • Leasing, and
  • Sales and leasebacks

Sally primarily represents borrowers and developers, but has also represented lenders. This combination of experience benefits clients who are navigating lender requirements and trying to pinpoint terms on which lenders may be willing to negotiate. She has worked on numerous commercial real estate development projects ranging from condominiums and multi-family complexes to office and retail properties. Sally has extensive experience as lead counsel on multi-state acquisitions, sales, and financing.

Select representations

  • Represented one of the largest privately held, real estate companies in New England in the acquisition of Dexter Park and Allston Towers in Boston's Brookline neighborhood; these two acquisitions added over 500 residential housing units to the more than 5,000 units owned/managed by Hamilton, in addition to its 2 million square feet of commercial space.
  • Counseled a real estate investment and development company in restructuring the company's debt on more than 1.2 million square feet of its commercial real estate using $85 million in new equity financing.
  • Represented one of the largest privately held, real estate companies in New England in the acquisition of the Brattle Portfolio; the Brattle Portfolio is comprised of 10 buildings in Arlington, MA.
  • Converted an urban hospital campus to a condominium structure in connection with a large bond financing that created more flexibility for future use/development of the hospital property.

Sally volunteers her time as a Member of The Ethics Committee for The Boston Home, a long term care facility located in Dorchester, MA. She lives in Sharon, MA with her husband and two children.
