Konstantina M. Katcheves is a partner in the Business and Finance Department and a member of the firm's Intellectual Property & Technology and Life Sciences practice groups. Ms. Katcheves provides her clients business and intellectual property counsel.
Ms. Katcheves regularly prepares opinions on matters such as patentability, validity, infringement and freedom to use. She also conducts intellectual property due diligence analysis in connection with mergers, acquisitions, licensing, private equity placements and public stock offerings.
Ms. Katcheves represents start-up and growth companies, international companies and universities on matters including the management of intellectual property portfolios, sponsored research, joint development, licensing and product development. Ms. Katcheves assists companies in the acquisition, enforcement and commercialization of their intellectual property assets. She helps clients structure and negotiate and licensing transactions, including in-licenses and out-licenses, strategic alliances and joint ventures and research and development agreements. Ms. Katcheves has also provided intellectual property and business counsel to clients based in Europe and India.
In addition, Ms. Katcheves assists her clients in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications in the United States and Foreign Jurisdictions. Ms. Katcheves also worked for a number of years as a patent examiner of gene expression and regulation technologies at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in Alexandria, Virginia.
Ms. Katcheves advises companies on legal issues by participating on several advisory boards.
Prior to joining Saul Ewing, Ms. Katcheves was the founding and managing partner of Travers, Katcheves & Associates, PA where, in addition to her busy legal practice, she also managed the firm's daily operations.
In addition to her admissions to the state bars of New Mexico and Maryland, Ms. Katcheves is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
