As the nation continues to anticipate the repeal of the estate tax, its future is cloudier than ever. Since June 7, 2001, when the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001 was signed into law, a one-year repeal of the federal estate tax has been on the books. In the face of record deficits and other forces, however, it is increasingly likely that there will be no repeal. A number of bills have been proposed that would change the one-year repeal.
On September 17, Jeffrey S. Glaser, Special Counsel in the Personal Wealth, Estates and Trusts Practice Group, will discuss the existing law, the proposed bills, what these bills mean to clients, and planning opportunities to consider during this time of uncertainty. Continuing Professional Education credit for CPAs will be offered at the conference.
