The third and final Workshop, Cybersecurity in the Insurance Marketplace, will examine in greater detail the issues confronting policyholders and underwriters concerning the coverage provided by and the availability of cyber insurance in this developing market. Featured speaker, Emily Lowe, Vice President and cyber insurance expert from Willis Towers Watson, will discuss the current non-standard state of the cyber insurance market, the variations in the kinds of coverage available, and helpful tips in looking for and choosing cyber insurance that best fits the needs of the buying companies.

CLE & IAPP CPE Information

Pennsylvania CLE

Each program has been approved by the Pennsylvania Continuing Legal Education Board for 3.5 hours of substantive law, practice and procedure and zero hours of ethics, professionalism or substance abuse CLE credit (approved for in-person and distance learning).

New Jersey CLE

Each program has been approved by the  Board of Continuing Legal Education of the Supreme Court of New Jersey 3.5 hours of substantive law, valid for in-person attendees only.

IAPP CPE

  • Program One, Cybersecurity in the Boardroom, has been approved for 3.5 Group A credit for the CIPM.
  • Program Two, Cybersecurity in the Trenches, has been approved for 3.5 Group A credit for CIPP/US, CIPM, and CIPT.

The first Workshop of the series, Cybersecurity in the Boardroom, will focus on insurance and financial services cybersecurity requirements and related best practices for board members and C-suite level management. The Workshop will cover new developments such as recent amendments to the proposed NAIC Insurance Data Security Model Law, as well as the recently promulgated New York Department of Financial Services Cyber Security Regulation. The Workshop will also provide information on the state of the cybersecurity insurance marketplace, and issues that should be considered by management in the procurement or underwriting of this continually evolving type of insurance. Featured speaker, Ignacio Rivera, Deputy Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Munich Re America, will discuss Board responsibilities for compliance with the new NAIC Model Act and the recently promulgated New York regulations, and best practices for boards of directors relating to cybersecurity.

The second Workshop, Cybersecurity in the Trenches, will address the operational issues and best practices for the management of cybersecurity for insurance companies, insurance intermediaries, and insurance licensees.

Featured speakers:

Jerry Link, Director of IT and CISO, INS Companies, and a cyber examiner for the Pennsylvania Insurance Department, will outline the cybersecurity requirements expected by the various insurance departments and how insurance companies are faring in their compliance reviews. 

John Kerr, CISSP, CISM, Vice President Commercial Cybersecurity Solutions, Federal Data Systems, will discuss areas where companies have had difficulties in their cybersecurity plans and best practices in designing and running mock breach games.
