Orlinsky Comments on Venture Capitalists' New Interests
"Venture capitalists are warming up to telecom, IT sectors", The Gazette
In this article, Eric G. Orlinsky, Co-Chair of the Firm's Venture Capital/Private Equity practice group, discussed venture capitalists' newest investment attractions: the telecommunications industry and information technology.
Mr. Orlinsky said some investors have become disinterested with biotechnology startups because the anticipated marketing time of products has taken longer than in other areas. "I'm not certain, but people were looking for other places to put their money," he said.
Mr. Orlinsky also said that while telecom "seems that it is starting to rebound," no one sector is consuming the venture capitalist charts. "Things are all over the map, from AIDS vaccines to a lemon flavor substitute powdered deal we just handled," he said. "For two years Wall Street IPOs have been just fits and spurts."
