Unlike comparable firms in volatile markets such as New York City, Philadelphia firms are generally not as heavily invested in deals that hinge on the securitized loans and related debt instruments that have been creating havoc with the New York banks and their law firms. As a result, Saul Ewing has remained profitable, he said, and has not had to lay off any attorneys.
