Driscoll discusses validity of Comaper Corp.’s patent for computer cooling system
"Antec Can’t Nix Comaper CPU Cooling Patent," IP Law360
Stephen J. Driscoll, a partner in the Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Group, was quoted in this article discussing the federal jury’s determination that Comaper Corp.’s patent for a computer cooling system is valid, securing the company’s 2007 infringement win against computer parts manufacturer Antec Inc. The jury rejected Antec’s invalidity argument in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, finding that the patent is “not obvious or anticipated by prior computer fan modules,” and safeguarding Comaper’s $600,000 infringement award.
Steve, counsel for Comaper, said “despite defendants tripling the number of prior art devices they were relying on just a month before trial, we kept the issues simple, and were rewarded with a quick verdict upholding the patent’s validity.”
