Orientation. Your Saul Ewing summer expedition begins with 3 action-packed days in our Philadelphia office with the entire expedition team. We'll help you get your bearings and impart basic survival skills like computer and telephone training. On day three, you'll start to learn what your colleagues on the expedition team are really made of during a scavenger hunt exploring the streets of Philadelphia.
Real Work Experience. Throughout your journey, you'll draft memos and briefs that will actually be read by clients and judges. You'll attend client meetings, closings, court conferences, depositions and trials. In many cases, you'll even get to handle your own pro bono case. Real, meaningful work experience forms the foundation of the Saul Ewing expedition.
Legal Writing and Bluebooking Workshops. Saul Ewing will work hard to refine and sharpen your legal writing and bluebooking skills during the course of your summer expedition. You'll get practical, hands-on guidance from talented legal writers in a workshop series format, and you'll be amazed at the results.
Evaluations and Feedback. You'll never be "in the dark" during your summer expedition at Saul Ewing. Each of your assignments will be carefully evaluated by your assigning attorney, who will provide you with direct feedback. You'll also be given both a mid-summer evaluation and an evaluation at the conclusion of the program. We'll candidly share with you what we see as your strengths and where we see room for improvement. Through these programs, you'll be kept enlightened as to your progress throughout your summer expedition.
