Jesse L. Krohn
Primary Office
Overview

Jesse Krohn draws on her past work as an assistant general counsel for a small private college and an associate director in the civil rights compliance office of a large university to advise institutions of higher education on legal matters. Her experience includes evaluating complaints and conducting investigations of claims of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct and retaliation. She also handles student, faculty, and employee civil rights matters involving Title VII, Title IX, the Family Medical Leave Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disability Act, and state and local civil rights laws. When these claims cannot be resolved through mediation and other forms of conflict resolution, she represents clients in litigation.

Additionally, Jesse counsels college and university administrators and human resource officers on labor and employment matters, including handling wrongful termination cases and advising on labor relations with campus collective bargaining units. She also develops, revises and interprets employee policies, advises on their fair application, and provides training to help management with implementation and minimize risks.

In addition to her litigation work, Jesse advises clients on transactional matters affecting various administrative and academic departments. Her transactional experience includes drafting and reviewing:

  • memorandums of understanding and letters of intent for academic collaboration, affiliation, articulation, and exchange programs
  • specialized agreements for real estate leases
  • sponsored research and grants with private and governmental entities
  • facility use and rental agreements
  • gift and donor agreements
  • non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements
  • employment/appointment contracts

Jesse first developed her skills as a litigator from serving as a Skadden Fellow and then later working as a staff attorney for Philadelphia Legal Assistance, which provides free legal services to low-income Philadelphians. She was also a judicial clerk for the Honorable Ellen L. Hollander in U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland.
