Overview

John Marty focuses his practice on matters involving white collar and government litigation and representations of health care industry clients in civil litigation. His experience with white collar cases includes assisting clients facing investigations by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, U.S. Department of Justice and state investigative grand juries. In the health care space, he assists with a variety of commercial contractual disputes and disputes before the Department of Human Services Bureau of Hearing and Appeals.


John's general litigation practice also includes handling matters involving cybersecurity and privacy, including assisting institutions that are experiencing data breaches and reviewing their contracts for technology vendors.

In addition, John handles matters for institutions of higher education, including labor and employment disputes and sensitive legal matters involving Greek life. John also has experience working on matters involving First Amendment rights issues, including Pennsylvania's Right-to-Know Law, copyright law, and defamation claims.


While earning his J.D. at University of Pittsburgh School of Law, John was a summer associate for Saul Ewing. Prior to law school, John was a legal intern for a utility company and the Armstrong County District Attorney. He is also knowledgeable about education issues from his past experience as a special education teacher with Teach for America, serving as Illinois State Program Director for Students for Education Reform, and as an intern for Leadership for Educational Equity.
