Overview

Robert Gill has more than 35 years of experience as a commercial litigator. Robert handles cases both locally in the Washington, D.C. metro area and throughout the United States, and has tried a number of cases in state and federal courts, and before arbitration tribunals. He has particular experience in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia - the so-called "Rocket Docket" - and in various circuit courts throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. Robert also has significant appellate experience.

Robert focuses his litigation practice on three general areas: intellectual property litigation, complex commercial or business litigation, and real estate litigation.

Intellectual Property Litigation

Robert has litigated cases and claims alleging:

The technologies which were the subject of the trade secret and patent cases include technology for the wireless transmission of data, computer source code, computer algorithms, permeable and non-permeable membranes, strategies for the transportation, storage and disposal of various types of radioactive materials, and pharmaceutical biologics used for the immunotherapy treatment of cancer.

These matters have included contract and lease disputes, easement disputes, lien priority litigation, and real estate title litigation, as well as litigation over the District of Columbia's Tenants Opportunity to Purchase Act.  Robert's clients have included real estate owners, developers, lenders, borrowers, brokers, landlords, tenants, title insurance companies, port authorities, and ocean carriers.
