Overview

Rohit Kapuria focuses his practice in general corporate and securities law, representing both public and private companies in connection with mergers and acquisitions, public and private offerings of securities and SEC disclosure, and corporate governance. His corporate/securities practice also includes handling private offerings under the EB-5 investor visa program. Rohit regularly represents EB-5 lenders, EB-5 borrowers, banks, regional centers, real estate developers, investors working on direct EB-5 projects, and migration brokers. In this capacity, he works collaboratively with economists, business plan writers, investment managers, and other professionals in preparing I-924 and I-526 petitions for filing with USCIS. He has worked on over 200 EB-5 transactions, with a combined capital development cost in excess of $5 billion, around the country.

Over the last few years, Rohit has been actively working to develop the Indian and Gulf countries' EB-5 markets. He regularly travels to India, UAE, and Qatar to further develop his growing network of broker dealers and to speak on EB-5 transactions.
Rohit also regularly speaks on EB-5 topics both nationally and internationally. In 2016 he was selected to the Top 5 EB-5 Rising Stars by EB5 Investors Magazine.

Rohit is vice chair of the Firm's Opportunity Zones and Qualified Opportunity Funds Practice, which consists of 40 attorneys who work together to handle tax, real estate, corporate and securities issues on investments and projects in these designated areas. Rohit focuses in particular on assisting clients with matters involving securities, including reviewing fund documents for compliance with securities law rules and regulations.

Rohit has a graduate degree in mathematical economics, and prior to entering the legal profession, he worked as an economist and fund manager where, with a team of analysts, he created and analyzed predictive fund models for a NGO's portfolio. Rohit is a member of the Illinois State Bar and IIUSA's Investor Markets Committee.
