Valerie O'Shea Murray, Ph.D., is a registered patent agent who prepares and prosecutes patent applications in a broad spectrum of technology areas, including biotechnology, immunology, chemistry, and life sciences. Valerie's intellectual property experience includes work for a variety of clients, including top-tier universities, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, and the food and beverage industry. She draws on her scientific research background in biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, structural biology, and organic chemistry to assist clients in protecting their innovations.

Prior to her career in intellectual property, Valerie was an NIH Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley, Department of Molecular and Cell Biology, and a senior research specialist in the Department of Biophysics and Biophysical Chemistry at Johns Hopkins University.

Her postdoctoral work addressed long-standing questions in the field of DNA replication initiation.
Valerie's doctoral research in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Utah involved mechanistic and structural investigations of a DNA repair glycosylase and its role in colorectal cancer.

As a graduate student, Valerie received two NIH pre-doctoral training fellowships in multidisciplinary cancer research and biological chemistry, respectively. Valerie has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed research publications and presented her work at international conferences.
