Premium Cigar, Menu Labeling, and Medical Cannabis Legislation Introduced

A few pieces of legislation introduced recently that are worth noting:

  • Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) reintroduced a bill to exempt premium cigars from FDA regulation: . The text of the bill is the same as H.R. 564, which was introduced in the House of Representatives last month;
  • Reps. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) and Tony Cardenas (D-CA) and Senators Roy Blunt (R-MO) and Angus King (I-ME) introduced the Common Sense Nutrition Disclosure Act of 2017 (H.R. 772, S. 261) to make it easier for supermarkets to comply with FDA's Menu Labeling Rule; and
  • Rep. H. Morgan Griffith (R-VA) introduced the Compassionate Access Act (H.R. 715) to provide for the rescheduling of marijuana under the Controlled Substances Act, the medical use of marijuana in accordance with State law, and the exclusion of cannabidiol (CBD) from the definition of marijuana. .
