Key Building Blocks for Privacy Compliance: Privacy Policies and Vendor Contracts

Alexander "Sandy" Bilus, co-chair of the Firm's Cybersecurity and Privacy Practice, will present during the 2021 University of Vermont's Legal Issues in Higher Education Conference on Key Building Blocks for Privacy Compliance: Privacy Policies and Vendor Contracts.  Sandy will focus on two areas that should be a focus of every institution's privacy compliance program: (i) the institution's privacy policy and (ii) the privacy provisions of its vendor contracts. The presentation will include a deep dive into how institutions can create and maintain accurate privacy policies, with a particular emphasis on what institutions should and should not be saying in their privacy policies. The presentation will also cover the privacy-related contractual provisions that institutions should put in place with any vendor that will be collecting or using personal information on behalf of the institution, and the issues that often crop up during negotiations over those provisions
