Lessons From the Pandemic: How Employers and Boards Can Effectively Support their Essential Female Workers of Color in a Virtual Environment

Candace McLaren Lanham, partner in the Firm's Higher Education Practice, and also a member of both the Firm's Diversity & Inclusion Committee and Minority Attorney Resource Group, moderates and hosts the Beyond #MeToo Working Group on Corporate Governance, Compliance, and Risk panel discussion.  The panel will focus on the following topics:

  • Systemic workplace issues: sexual harassment/misconduct, pay disparities, and obstacles to hiring/retention/promotion and their impact on women of color.
  • Women of color as “essential workers,” both at work and at home.
  • The pandemic’s heightened reliance on Black and Brown female labor, coupled with its disparate impact on communities of color both financially and medically.
  • How employers can effectively address and investigate #MeToo issues in a virtual environment.
  • What companies can do to address and combat racism and sexism within their ranks.
