Animals, HIV, Interpreters and Contractors — Developments and Trends under ADA Title III and the Fair Housing Act

Every business that is open to the public, or that is involved in design, construction, leasing or occupying new or expanded facilities, needs to pay attention to the requirements of the Americans With Disabilities (ADA) Act. The real estate industry faces additional challenges under the Fair Housing Act. Robert L. Duston, a partner in our Labor, Employment and Employee Benefits Practice, will explain some of the key issues associated with recent developments under ADA Title II and III, and the FHA.

This presentation will cover types of lawsuits and claims that are being filed today; the new compliance issues that arise with the expansion of the meaning of who is a person with a disability; key provisions of the Department of Justice 2010 regulations, including service animals, effective communication and website accessibility; and the on-going difficulty of correctly designing and constructing new facilities to comply with federal law.

Executives who are responsible for ensuring their companies comply with either the ADA or FHA are encouraged to attend.

The seminar begins at 8:00 a.m. at Saul Ewing's Philadelphia office, Centre Square West, 1500 Market Street, 38th Floor, Philadelphia, PA.
