Event Dates: February 24, 2021

Risk to Self and Risk to Others

Jim Keller, co-chair of both the Firm's K-12 and Higher Education Practices, and Pat Nugent, partner in the Firm's K-12 and Higher Education Practices, will co-present during the 2021 NAIS Annual Conference. This workshop presentation will focus on student mental health, which is a significant and ever growing concern for educational institutions nationwide, particularly in today’s time of remote learning, pandemics, school shootings and increased student anxiety.  A rising number of students are seeking out mental health services for a variety of mental health issues (attention-deficit; eating disorders; depression and anxiety; addiction, just to name a few).  As such, educational institutions and associated educators, faculty and school administration must approach student mental health issues in a legally compliant and medically supported way that benefits the individual student, as well as the general school community.
