Let’s Make a Deal: Insurance Transactions in the New Economy

Saul Ewing LLP’s Insurance Practice will present this half-day seminar to explore trends affecting insurance transactions and provide insurance company counsel and executives corporate strategies to complete these deals.  Our topics touch on a variety of aspects of insurance transactions, and our speakers include an impressive panel of insurance industry experts:

  • Pennsylvania Insurance Commissioner Michael Consedine will discuss Global Transactions, including the efforts of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors to develop global insurance standards.  Commissioner Consedine is Vice President of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and its representative to the U.S. - EU Insurance Dialogue Steering Committee that is exploring these standards.  He will also address issues relating to his work on the Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance.
  • Grace Vandecruze, founder and managing director at Grace Global Capital LLC based in New York, will join with Dennis Brennan, a partner in Saul Ewing’s Insurance Practice, to discuss acquisition trends in the insurance industry, including the impact of private equity. 
  • Peter L. Hartt, acting director of the Insurance Division of the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance, and Kim Rankin, director of company licensing and financial analysis for the Pennsylvania Insurance Department, and Saul Ewing Special Counsel Frederic Garsson, who is a member of the Insurance Law Committee for the New York City Bar Association, will participate in a panel discussion on Regulatory Aspects of the Deal.
  • When Things Go Wrong – Dealing With Failed Transactions,  is a presentation featuring Paul Hummer and Joel Hopkins from Saul Ewing’s Insurance Practice, regarding the risks associated with transactions that fail to close and litigation arising from buyer’s remorse. 

The event will begin with registration and breakfast at 8 a.m. at The Hub Cira Centre, 2929 Arch Street, Mezzanine Level, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (adjacent to 30th Street Station).  The program will start at 9:00 a.m. and will conclude at 12:45 p.m.  Lunch will be provided immediately following the program.
