The New Overtime Regulations: How Will They Affect The Higher Education Workplace?
October 19, 2016

Dena Calo, a partner and vice chair of Saul Ewing’s Labor and Employment Practice, and Harriet Cooperman, also a partner in the firm’s Labor and Employment Practice, join the Maryland Independent College and University Association (MICUA) to provide a seminar on new Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) regulations. The seminar, held at Goucher College, will discuss the impending changes for salary level for exempt employees and how colleges and universities should prepare to ensure FLSA compliance. The presentation will offer practical solutions on how to handle employee unrest, salary compression concerns, time-keeping and compensation practice revisions and other impacts on fund raising, budgeting, service delivery and morale. Additionally, the presenters will discuss the concerns over the teaching and academic administrator exemptions as they relate to coaches, post-doctoral fellows, research assistants, residents,  and others whose salary may not reach the new salary level.
