Cooperman and Orlinsky to speak at MSBA’s 2015 Business Law Institute
Partners Harriet E. Cooperman and Eric Orlinsky, members of Saul Ewing’s Labor and Employment Practice and Private Equity/Venture Capital Practice, respectively, will speak at the Maryland State Bar Association’s 2015 Business Law Institute in Baltimore, Maryland.
Harriet will discuss the development of federally- and state-compliant policies and practices for employee disability, pregnancy and family leave issues during her presentation on “Employment Law: Grappling with Sticky Employment and Labor Law Issues.” She will also cover:
- The NLRB’S increasing regulation of non-union employers’ workplace policies and practices; and
- Employee misclassifications and other wage and hour law minefields
Her 50-minute presentation will begin at 1:10 p.m.
Eric will speak on two panels: “ Current Issues in Structuring Private Equity and Venture Capital Transactions” from 1:10 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and “Current Topics Regarding Maryland Law Opinion Letters” from 4:10 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
“Current Issues in Structuring Private Equity and Venture Capital Transactions” will explore where private equity/venture capital firms and LPs get their money and why this matters to deals; differences between and among different financing layers and transaction structures; and when and why various types of investments are used. “Current Topics Regarding Maryland Law Opinion Letters” will explore the costs and benefits of certain opinions, different types of opinions as well as when diligence is required, the cost to perform it and how it compares with the value of an opinion.
The 2015 Business Law Institute will begin at Noon and run through 6:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Hotel in Columbia. Participants are eligible for 3.5 CLE credits.
