ADA and FHA Update – After 25 years, More Complex than Ever

Robert Duston, a partner in the Labor and Employment Practice, presented at the 19th annual Real Estate Institute, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. Because 2015 marked the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act and the implementation of the FHA Amendments that expanded requirements regarding disability discrimination, Rob’s session focused on developments, trends and hot topics in these overlapping laws that continue to affect the real estate industry today. Some key issues addressed during the presentation included  evolving limits on the enforceability of indemnification provisions in development, construction and other contracts, DOJ and HUD enforcement priorities, service and assistance animals and common mistakes.

Rob’s session took place on the second day of the two-day event at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
