Role and Responsibility of the Chief Compliance Officer

Christopher R. Hall, a partner and chair of Saul Ewing’s White Collar and Government Enforcement Practice, is a panelist for this CLE course at the Association of Corporate Counsel Annual Meeting 2015 in Boston, Massachusetts.

Chris and other panelists will compare and contrast the role of chief compliance officer to the role of in-house counsel and discuss how to instill a compliance culture in a company and  convince senior management to allocate sufficient resources to support a compliance program. The panel will also cover:

  • What liability do you have as the CCO, and should you consider liability insurance?
  • When does the attorney-client privilege cover compliance matters?
  • What about the “quality improvement” privilege?
  • What are the pros and cons of various reporting structures?

Joining Chris on this panel are: Barbara Barrett, chief compliance officer for Reliant Care Management Company; Stephen Daoust, vice president of legal & compliance for Iridium Satellite LLC; and Suzanne Rich Folsom, general counsel and chief compliance officer for United States Steel Corporation.

The 90-minute panel discussion begins at 11:00 a.m. The ACC Annual Meeting begins October 18 at the Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center and concludes October 21.
