Insurance Practice to host series of Corporate Governance workshops in Pennsylvania

Attorneys in Saul Ewing’s Insurance Practice are partnering with Pennsylvania Deputy Insurance Commissioner Steve Johnson to present a series of half-day Workshops this Fall for insurance company directors and senior management that focus on new governance requirements arising out of the NAIC Solvency Modernization Initiative, including the enhanced role of Boards at both the insurer and holding company levels in regulatory reporting. Each Workshop will include practical information relevant to directors and senior management of all insurers on:

  • Regulator expectations of Boards and insurance company management under the new corporate governance requirements.
  • Characteristics of effective Board members.
  • New insurance regulatory requirements and how they affect Boards and insurer compliance programs.
  • What Boards should know about statutory financial statements.
  • The role of Boards in strategic planning.

Faculty will include current and former regulators, Saul Ewing Insurance Practice attorneys and financial and strategic planning experts.

The first Workshop is scheduled for September 21, 2012 in Harrisburg, PA. Future Workshops are scheduled for October 3, 2012 in Pittsburgh; October 26, 2012 in Philadelphia and November 7, 2012 in Wilkes-Barre. Each Workshop will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end with a Noontime lunch. A nominal $50 per attendee fee will cover the cost of the lunch and the facilities.
