General Motors: What In-House Counsel Can Learn from the Valukas Report
October 20, 2015

Joseph F. O’Dea, Jr., a partner in Saul Ewing’s Commercial Litigation Practice, is a panelist for this CLE course at the Association of Corporate Counsel Annual Meeting 2015 in Boston, Massachusetts.

Joe and two other panelists are discussing and evaluating whether the conclusions in the Valukas Report to the Board of Directors of General Motors Corporation are sound and what critical lessons can be learned by other in-house counsel. This report laid significant blame on the company’s  in-house counsel for the less-than-ideal handling of the ignition switch issue. The panel will also cover MRCP 13 (Diligence) and MRCP 1.13 (Organization as Client) discussions, especially as they relate to the Valukas Report.

Joining Joe on this panel  are Evan Slavitt, vice president of business & legal affairs for AVX Corporation, and Allie Wright, associate general counsel for Allegis Group, Inc.

The 90-minute panel discussion begins at 2:30 p.m. The ACC Annual Meeting begins October 18 at the Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center and concludes October 21.
