What You Need to Know About the OZ Program
Join Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr attorneys for a presentation on Opportunity Zones and what you need to know in order to capitalize on this program's benefits. In December 2017, Congress included The Opportunity Zones tax incentive in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act that was then signed into law. This law provides tax benefits to investors who have recognized capital gains and make timely investments in a "Qualified Opportunity Fund." For an investment vehicle to be a Qualified Opportunity Fund, it must make investments almost exclusively in approved Opportunity Zones: either property located in Opportunity Zones or businesses that operate primarily in Opportunity Zones and meet certain other requirements.
This 90-minute program will discuss:
- What Opportunity Zones are and what types of investment opportunities qualify
- What qualifies as a Qualified Opportunity Fund and how to invest in one
- What some of the nuances are with the program
- How this program impacts local real estate market
