Francelina Perdomo Klukosky Brings to Saul Ewing Significant Intellectual Property Experience for the Sports and Entertainment Industries

Francelina Perdomo Klukosky brings extensive experience as an intellectual property attorney to her new role as counsel in the firm. Ms. Perdomo Klukosky focuses on both litigation and transactions for clients in the sports and entertainment industries. She is resident in the New York office.

Ms. Perdomo Klukosky advises artists, influencers and corporate clients in creative industries, including music, book publishing, games, sports, new media, fashion/design and live event production, on how to protect their intellectual property and their business interests.  Her experience includes representations in litigation that threatens clients’ creative control over their work and financial livelihood, as well as in contractual matters and other transactions that help them monetize their art. Ms. Perdomo Klukosky also advises clients on the balance between commercializing their works while using intellectual property law to protect and defend their rights from the risk of infringement, especially in the evolving digital marketplace.

Ms. Perdomo Klukosky’s litigation experience includes disputes involving copyrights, trademarks, patents, licensing, publicity rights and false advertising. She also handles royalty collection claims as well as registration and monetization of intellectual property assets.

Some of her select representations include:

  • The estate of an Italian design team in a trademark and copyright infringement action against a publication company seeking cessation of the unauthorized use and distribution of the second edition of a book devoted to their work.
  • The author in a high-profile book deal with Harper Collins. The book is scheduled for publication in spring 2024.
  • A retired NBA player's legal team in an endorsement deal involving the provisions of the SAG-AFTRA commercial contract regarding union-covered services. 
  • A multi-day immersive music and arts festival in the Caribbean as its outside general counsel.

Ms. Perdomo Klukosky earned an equivalent to a J.D. – a  Doctor en Derecho – from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico, as well as a Certificat in Droit Compare in Corporate and Contract Law from Université Paris I (Pantheon Sorbonne). She also has an LL.M. in Intellectual Property and Corporate and International ADR from Cornell Law School.
