Several of the Firm’s practice areas also earned high rankings.
Saul Ewing LLP, a full service law firm with more than 260 lawyers in 11 East Coast offices, today announced that it has elected nine attorneys to the firm’s partnership, effective January 1, 2017:
Zachary W. Berk, a member of the Commercial Litigation Practice, resident in the Boston, Mass. office. Mr. Berk focuses his practice on complex civil litigation matters, with concentration in business and real estate litigation. He represents many of the firm’s Boston Higher Education and Labor & Employment clients.
Jacqueline A. Brooks, an associate in Saul Ewing’s Business and Finance Practice, has been named to The Daily Record’s Successful by 40 VIP List – Very Important Professionals Successful by 40 awards.
The Daily Record created the VIP List in 2011 to recognize professionals 40 years of age and younger who have been successful in Maryland. This year’s 42 winners were selected on the basis of professional accomplishments and commitment to inspiring change in their community.
Sally E. Michael, a partner in the firm’s Real Estate Practice, explains in this story the increasing amount of business that she and others in the Boston office handled as the year 2012 progressed. While transactions and acquisition were soft in the beginning of the year, they picked up substantially in the second half, she said.
George Asimos, a partner in the Project and Resource Development Practice, is mentioned in this story about a public hearing for a proposal by Pennsy Supply to expand its Small Mountaintop Quarry. During the hearing on December 6, 2012, Asimos, who represents Pennsy, said the company met the burdens required to get a conditional use approval for the project and demonstrated the expanded quarry will not adversely affect the community’s health, safety and welfare. The 120-plus acre project is proposed in Dorrance Township, Pa.
Howard R. Majev, Partner and Co-Chair of the Firm’s Real Estate Practice, authored this story about the outlook for commercial real estate based on what he heard during the Firm’s 4th Annual Mid-Atlantic Real Estate Conference in Baltimore in October. Majev reported that industry players were finding opportunities in the down market, but were picking them carefully and financing them in ways to protect against potential risks that remain.
"Although I wouldn't say the real estate market is completely healthy," Majev wrote, "it is certainly re-gaining some of its health."
