Chen attends ABA Trial Academy
June 12, 2013 – Joey Tsu-Yi Chen, an associate in the Commercial Litigation Practice, attended the Trial Academy led by the American Bar Association Forum on the Construction Industry in Washington, D.C. on June 12-15, 2013.
Chen was awarded a scholarship to attend the Trial Academy and was one of 36 participants. Held at the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the Trial Academy allows construction litigators to hone their trial skills through a 3-day intensive program covering two mock construction disputes. Participants engaged in two full days of workshops, received immediate feedback from experienced construction litigators, including video review, and applied their skills in a mock trial. The Academy included tips on preparing expert witnesses, conducting effective direct and cross examinations of technical witnesses, and delivering effective opening statements and closing arguments.
