Russia vs. Ukraine: salt on the wound in the supply chain

For the expert lawyer in construction and development, Lisa Colon, quoted by the South Florida Business Journal, "the embargoes against the Kremlin, as well as the interruptions in the materials supplied by Ukraine, will leave some companies increasingly vulnerable to the increase in the costs".

Colon, of Saul Ewing LLP, who has been advising construction companies for more than 20 years, said that "general contractors have established [agreements] to fix prices for certain goods and materials since before the invasion," at the same time wondering what's going to happen to pricing now and how much more contractors are going to be squeezed out.

Logically, "the largest companies have more access to credit to buy the materials they need," the expert clarified, but the smaller ones, being more vulnerable to this type of situation, will be the most affected. As for the branch most affected within the sector, Colon predicted that it will be the manufacturing, repair and installation of roofs.

"Roofing companies, whether large or small, simply do not have the ability to compete," the specialist remarked, but not before also expressing her concern for the strongest companies, which according to her are not immune to the problem.
