Finio Quoted in Pittsburgh Post-Gazette About Harness License Case

"Applicants for Harness License in Court", Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

March 6, 2006

Michael A. Finio, Harrisburg Office Managing Partner and a member of the Litigation Department, was quoted in this article about the state Harness Racing Commission wanting to deny licenses to both Bedford Downs and Valley View Downs to the Commonwealth Court on April 5.

Valley View was rejected because the commission did not like the size of the track, or layout of the facility. Bedford Downs did not get the license because money that would be put toward building the track was inherited by the principals from their grandfather, who lent money to mobsters 20 years ago.

The court could take up to three months to issue a decision.

"The judges see it as a matter of significance, not a routine case," Mr. Finio said. He is the attorney for Valley View Downs.
