Saul Ewing’s Commitment to Diversity Recognized by University of Baltimore School of Law
Saul Ewing LLP announced today that it has been named Diversity Firm of the Year by the Black Law Students Association at the University of Baltimore School of Law.
In honoring the firm with this award, the Association recognized Saul Ewing as a leader among law firms in its diversity initiatives and for its commitment to providing equal opportunities. The firm was also cited for its leadership in serving as a role model for law students and, in particular, helping minority law students to succeed.
“Saul Ewing is honored to receive this recognition from the BLSA,” said Michelle N. Lipkowitz, partner and chair of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee. “The communities and clients our firm serves are increasingly diverse and we strive to make our firm reflect these differences. This allows us to draw on a variety of viewpoints to develop dynamic solutions to our clients’ legal challenges and fulfill their demands for a diverse team to handle their matters.”
This commitment is reflected in the firm’s participation in various community organizations and programs that promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace. This includes, most recently, speaking engagements for the BLSA at the University of Baltimore Law School, the Association of Legal Administrators Annual Conference & Exposition and the General Counsel Invitational Diversity Leadership Summit held by the Minority Corporate Counsel Association. The firm is also a longtime participant in the Community Law in Action Program, which puts staff and attorney mentors in our Baltimore office together with students to teach them about the legal profession.
Saul Ewing’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee also organizes an annual diversity retreat and its efforts have led to the establishment of a Women’s Development Initiative, an LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) Affinity Group, a Minority Lawyers Affinity Group and Flex Time Lawyers Affinity Group.
