(Baltimore, MD, October 14, 2013 - 2013-10-14)

Saul Ewing LLP, a full service law firm with more than 250 lawyers in 11 East Coast offices, announced today that Michelle N. Lipkowitz, a partner in the Commercial Litigation Practice and chair of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, has been selected to receive The Distinguished Women’s Award from the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland.

Lipkowitz is one of five prominent Baltimore area women business leaders selected to receive the award based on her outstanding professional and civic accomplishments. Prior to an awards ceremony on April 24, 2014, each honoree will spend a day with a Girl Scout who will shadow them to learn about their profession, including successes and challenges. The Shadow Girls will then introduce the honorees at the awards ceremony.

“I am truly humbled to receive this recognition and look forward to the mentoring experience,” Lipkowitz said. “The Girl Scouts of Central Maryland provides wonderful opportunities to help at-risk girls in our community develop into strong women and future leaders. I look forward to sharing my experiences and wisdom. It is vital for our girls to have strong, positive role models.”

Based in Saul Ewing’s Baltimore office, Lipkowitz has extensive experience in complex commercial litigation in various state and federal courts throughout Maryland and across the country representing clients from a broad range of industries, including financial, retail and telecommunications.

In addition to her demanding practice, Lipkowitz makes time for mentoring, including supporting GEM2 (Girls’ Empowerment Mission2), which is a mentoring program she co-founded and is aimed at enriching the lives of diverse, female high school graduates who grew up in underserved Baltimore communities. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Baltimore Urban Debate League, KIPP Baltimore, and Park Heights Renaissance.
