Seth Gitner

Seth Gitner counsels clients on regulatory, compliance, enforcement and transactional matters related to foods and beverages (for both packaged good and restaurant clients), cannabis (both marijuana and hemp), life sciences, cosmetics and tobacco, as well as other products regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and myriad state agencies. From product development to initial public offerings, Seth helps clients navigate regulatory considerations through the stages of development that lead to companies getting and keeping their products on the market. 


His experience includes:

  • Counseling food, drug, medical device and cannabis companies on a variety of regulatory matters including licensing issues, product labeling and e-commerce.
  • Handling regulatory due diligence on transactional matters in the cannabis and life science industries.
  • Drafting and revising promotional materials, press releases and public filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
  • Authoring opinion letters on suitable marketing pathways and preparing FDA submissions related to the same.
  • Preparing licensing submissions for state agencies regarding regulated industries.
  • Drafting and negotiating regulatory terms in a variety of commercial agreements.

While in law school, Seth was a co-president of the Georgetown University Law Center’s Food Law Society, a chair member of the National Food Law Student Network, and was the lead civil intern for Judge Michael Rankin of the D.C. Superior Court. Before law school, Seth served as a Congressional intern for then-House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, and was a government relations intern for the Corporation For National and Community Service (CNSC), where he obtained insight into the legislative process.
