Executive Decisions in Dermatology

Bruce D. Armon and Karilynn Bayus, a partner and associate, respectively, in the Health Practice wrote this article summarizing the ramifications of complying with the Physician Payments Sunshine Act.

Under the Act, certain pharmaceutical manufacturers and GPOs that are covered by Medicare, Medicaid or CHIP must report on an annual basis specific direct and indirect payments or transfers of value that they made to physicians. The article urges practice managers to help physician practices comply with the Act as its goal of transparency will have consequences for dermatology practices and their physicians.
