Brandenburg quoted in article on concerns about determination letter program changes
Dan S. Brandenburg, a partner in the Labor, Employment and Employee Benefits Practice Group, was quoted in this article in the February 22, 2012 issue of BNA Pension & Benefits Daily. The article discusses recent changes that the Internal Revenue Service made in its determination letter program which amount to a change in the way employee benefit attorneys have practiced. The IRS has eliminated certain document reviews, changing an aspect that set employee benefit retirement plan practices apart from other areas.
Dan noted, “Historically, the employee benefit retirement plan practice was one of the few practices in the entire tax law where the IRS would always allow you to get predeterminations of whether what you were doing was correct or not.”
