OIG Provides Guidance Regarding Paying Physicians to Take Hospital Call

Bruce D. Armon, a Partner in the  Health Law Practice Group, wrote this article that explains the implications of Advisory Opinion 09-05, which was recently posted by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

AO 09-05 gives guidelines for how hospitals can compensate physicians for providing emergency medical care to the hospitals' indigent and uninsured patients. The article also recommends that physicians and hospital administrators discuss call coverage and compensation to ensure hospitals have adequate coverage.
