Date: 09/06/2016
Author: Joel R. Burcat and Stephen W. Saunders
Industries: Energy | Energy Extraction
September 2016

Partner Joel R. Burcat, chair of the Energy Extraction Practice, has co-edited The Law of Oil and Gas in Pennsylvania with Stephen W. Saunders, of Scranton, Pa.-based Saunders Law.

Published by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute Press, the reference book is the definitive guide to oil and gas law in the Commonwealth. It dissects both title and regulatory issues relating to oil and gas. This examination is made from the perspectives of the oil and gas industry, land and mineral rights owners and the interested public. Pennsylvania’s law of oil and gas continues to evolve and courts are grappling with the application of new technologies and concepts that collide with case law developed in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

The book also contains detailed chapters written by Joel, as well as Elizabeth Witmer and John Englert, partners in Saul Ewing’s Energy Extraction Practice. Joel’s chapter is entitled, “Overview of Pennsylvania Regulatory Issues.” Elizabeth’s chapter is entitled “Natural Gas Pipeline Regulation in Pennsylvania.” John’s chapter is entitled “Regulation of Technically Enhanced Naturally Occurring Radioactivity in Pennsylvania.”

This reference is available both in book and CD-ROM format. Copies of the treatise may be purchased here, through the Pennsylvania Bar Institute.
