Recent Developments in the Enforcement of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).
The panel will discuss notable recent activity by the U.S. Department of Justice, including the impact of the D.C. Circuit’s Wynn decision, highprofile FARA prosecutions against U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and U.S. Congressman Enrique Roberto “Henry” Cuellar (D-TX), recent advisory opinions from DOJ’s FARA Unit that further refine the definitions of “agents” of a foreign “principal,” notable federal and state legislative initiatives, and the implications of FARA enforcement for higher education institutions on increasingly politicized college campuses.
