Robins and Paddy to Speak at ABA's 19th Annual Labor & Employment Law Conference, With Eidelman Serving as Conference Vice Chair

Jennifer Robins, Counsel at Saul Ewing, and Kaitlin Paddy, Associate at Saul Ewing will be speaking at the ABA's 19th Annual Labor & Employment Law Conference in Denver, CO, November 12-15, 2025. Gary Eidelman, Partner at Saul Ewing, will be serving as Conference Vice Chair.

Jennifer will be on a panel speaking on “Mind Matters at Work: Understanding ADA and FMLA Protections for Mental Health.” This panel will explore the critical intersection of mental health and workplace protections under the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act, offering insights for clients and employers alike. The session will address key issues such as reasonable accommodations, including reassignment, employer-provided leave policies, and handling psychiatric disabilities in the workplace. Practitioners must balance considering enforcement guidance, practical strategies for applying performance and conduct standards, and best practices for navigating disability-related inquiries and documentation requirements. Using case law, regulatory guidance and real-world examples, this session will provide valuable tools for attorneys advising employers or employees on mental health-related workplace challenges.

Kaitlin will be on a panel speaking on "Fundamentals of Discrimination and Recent Developments." This panel will discuss workplace discrimination starting from the fundamentals of what has traditionally been defined as discrimination and focusing on recent developments surrounding DEIA initiatives. Panelists will provide an analysis of the criticisms of DEI initiatives and an exploration of “reverse discrimination” theories under the law.
