A patent attorney with a Ph.D. in molecular biology and microbiology, Alireza Behrooz helps small to large multinational companies and universities protect intellectual property connected to inventions in the life science, biologics/pharmaceutical and biotech sectors. Drawing on 15 years of private practice experience, Alireza prepares, obtains and secures patents as well as provides opinions and due diligence analysis. He also represents clients in challenges to patent validity and inter partes reviews before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

Alireza has handled matters involving monoclonal antibodies/immunotherapeutics/diagnostics, peptides/therapeutics, biologics/biosimilars, small molecules/pharmaceuticals, blood/plasma products, nutraceuticals/nature-derived products, vaccines, nucleic acids/therapeutics, medical devices, medical diagnostics, agriculture/crop sciences, green, biotechnology/renewable resources, animal health and nutrition, and personal care and cosmetics products.

Prior to his legal career, Alireza performed bench research as a post-doctorate fellow at Case Western Reserve University and published numerous peer-reviewed scientific articles relevant to the areas of diabetes and cancer.

In addition to his state bar admissions, Alireza is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals Federal Circuit and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
