Lukas W. Pfannenstiel

Technical Specialist

Lukas Pfannenstiel draws on his scientific background to assist clients in protecting their intellectual property. Lukas has a Ph.D. in cellular and molecular medicine from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, a bachelor's degree in cell biology from University of Kansas, and practical experience working in research labs. His work as a technical specialist is informed by his experience planning and troubleshooting scientific research projects as well as maintaining regulatory compliance for scientific studies involving animals, radioactive materials, controlled drugs and human patient specimens. He also brings an understanding of molecular biology and cellular immunology methods, including those using animal models, in vivo and in vitro assays for immune function, flow cytometry, protein purification, human specimens and microarrays, to his legal work.

Prior to joining the Firm, Lukas was an immunologist and molecular biologist for a regional hospital-based research institute, where he focused on assaying responses to vaccines and gene expression changes in skin cancer. As a postdoctoral fellow for a nationally known hospital research institute, he researched tumor/T cell interactions as well as collaborated with biotechnology industry partners. His graduate dissertation was on using common chemotherapy drugs to augment dendritic cell function through pathways that synergize with a Her2/neu targeted whole-cell tumor vaccine.
