Data centers are the darlings of digital infrastructure now, but where will they get the power they need? Utilities in some areas are stretching to meet demand, and investment dollars are flowing to alternative and renewable energy sources. What does this mean for the wireless infrastructure and construction industries? Will micro-data centers that demand less power take on more workloads, and can these be co-located with cell towers? Will new data center investment follow available power, leaving fiber to follow? Or will local politics determine where data center operators choose to build, as markets like Atlanta and Northern Virginia face strong community opposition?
